bio brief
Matt Swales is the newest, and youngest, member of Petersen Motorsports/White Lightning Racing. He joined the team at the Houston round of the 2007 season and immediately made a strong impact on the team. His primary duties include overseeing the Michelin tire supply for the team: checking and setting pressures, working with Michelin to mount the proper tires on the proper wheels and preparing each set for on-track sessions. Stepping into the role vacated by longtime team member Troy Hildreth is no easy task and, working closely with Michelin engineer Brian Monprode, Swales has proven a quick study in overseeing the tires for the team. Swales, a Wyotech graduate, is making his first foray into motorsports.
away from the track
Swales is the manager of Fat Boy Customs, a small custom shop in Las Vegas, when not at the track. Like most on the team, his hobbies stay close to automobiles. He is currently building a Silver State Classic car and he enjoys car shows. He is also an avid hockey fan. Swales is single and lives in Las Vegas.
