bio brief
Kyle Kavanagh is a new member of Petersen Motorsports/White
Lightning Racing but, despite his young age, he is far from new to motorsports.
He graduated from Universal Technical Institute with an automotive degree and
went on to earn the prestigious PTAP certificate at the Porsche factory. Prior
to moving to motorsports, Kavanagh was a technician at Porsche dealerships for
six years. With that experience he joined The Racers Group (TRG) as a technician.
He moved quickly through the ranks at TRG becoming shop manager and crew chief
for their Grand-Am Rolex Series, IMSA Porsche Cup, Porsche Club of America,
PRC and NASA efforts. Kavanagh was recommended to Petersen Motorsports/White
Lightning Racing and joined the team beginning at Sebring in 2007. His quiet,
straight-forward approach fit in very well with the team from the start and
he adapted quickly to the Ferrari F430 GT. Kavanagh’s primary duties with
Petersen Motorsports/White Lightning Racing include car maintenance and handling
the sign board on pit lane bringing the No. 31 to a safe stop in the pit stall.
away from the track
Kavanagh is single and has no children. He enjoys riding
motorcycles on the street and off-road. Kavanagh has impressed the team with
his motorcycle skills around the team’s shop. He also enjoys off-road
driving and rock crawling around his Sedona, Arizona home.
