Sam Andrus joined Petersen Motorsports/ White Lightning Racing in mid-2003 to drive the transporter. He quickly earned a major role on the team overseeing the paddock, pit lane and fueling requirements. Sammy, as he is known to the team, is also in charge of the inventory and purchase of the non-automotive equipment on the transporter. On race day, Andrus dons a firesuit as the team’s primary fueler during pit stops and to assist in post-fueling operations.

Andrus is the owner and operator of his own truck which he has leased to Andrus Transportation. He also owns an extermination company in St, George, Utah. While not working, Andrus enjoys camping at the lake, riding motorcycles and four-wheelers on the sand dunes of his native Utah. Andrus lives in Santa Clara with his wife, Jackie, and his young sons, Matthew and Milo.
